What a wonderful family trio from Kyiv, Ukraine:
And I don’t know about you, but I will definitely buy their first album which will be coming soon, hopefully. Thanks to Jean-Paul for the link.
Music. Photography. Thoughts.

We’ve had some pretty hefty showers lately, and at the moment it’s still some light drizzle – so Cookie, one of our neighbours’ cats came in twice quite wet already. But after having some dry cat food and some rubbing against our legs, he felt quite comfortable laying down on the carpet in front of the TV set:
Missing Wilma since a while… but since both Mitchie and Zuleikha were sure that Wilma was pregnant, she must have given birth by now, and is probably busy with her kittens…
By now Cookie retired to some quieter area (he prefers Zuleikha’s room and bed), so the birds are back picking up their food outside.
As always, thanks for viewing.
Today I upgraded Mitchie’s computer to ‘Jammy Jellyfish‘, and I also installed a small WLAN repeater which we bought yesterday so that both Zuleikha and Mitchie have better WiFi coverage in their rooms.
Oh, and the new and LTS (long term supported) Ubuntu desktop is also covered here. Personally, I am running Debian and Arch, but I’m still a big proponent of Ubuntu. It is in fact the better business desktop, just as Steven writes.
As always, thanks for reading. And good night.
Today we ran into a group of anti vaxxers who were protesting against our suppression state as they called it – while the police had to protect their rights to freedom of speech… I took a group shot of the officers’ cars:
And that demonstration itself? Sorry, but I won’t show hatred on my pages… enough that these poor guys (and girls) had to work.
As always, thanks for viewing.
From Michael Johnston’s “The Online Photographer” I learnt the bad news that Eolake Stobblehouse (real name Frants Nielsen) has passed away.
I “knew” him only through his art nude photo site domai.com, but I also knew that he was supporting others like T.O.P. – so rest in peace, brother…
As always, thanks for reading.
I’m looking for some older photos which I either took in black & white or which could be converted to black & white, and probably be used as screen backgrounds in a 16:10 format (my monitor has a resolution of 1920×1200 pixels which I much prefer to the usual 16:9).
But first, here’s one of the cameras I used ten years ago, together with my favourite lens on it, and photographed using my Olympus E-520 DSLR with the wonderful 50mm/2 macro lens. This is in 4:3 format because the subject more or less filled the frame:
And the next three photos were either made with that camera or with the DSLR, all taken in Mittenwald, and converted to black & white and to a 16:10 format:
As always, thanks for viewing.
Picked up Zuleikha again, and took two photos. First the FAZ newspaper buildings again, from a different angle:
Then, around another corner and actually closer to where Zuleikha was learning, the “Galluswarte” watchtower:
As always, thanks for viewing.
Today I took a photo which I had taken in 2013 in Mittenwald, close to the Austrian/Tirolean border, and turned it into a black & white image in a 16:10 format to try it as a screen background. Here it is:
I must say that I quite like it. I simulated a yellow filter which makes the blue sky a bit darker and to add a bit more “presence” to the clouds. And I’m no Ansel Adams, but I also like that I’ve got a nice moon in that photo. The camera was an older Micro Four Thirds camera from Olympus, the “Pen” E-PL1, and the lens was Mitchie’s 20mm/1.7 Panasonic which we all love.
And today I had to pick up Zuleikha from Frankfurt. She was right around the corner of the FAZ office buildings, so I took a picture of that as well, this time with my current Olympus OM-D E-M10 Mk2 camera and the Micro Zuiko 17mm/1.8 lens. I had to use portrait position to almost get the whole height of the building from the opposite street side:
As always, thanks for viewing.
Used my mobile phone as a camera remote. Camera was on a table tripod, natural light from our veranda door, some artificial light behind me. Cropped 3:2, in-camera black & white mode.
As always, thanks for viewing.
We’re recovering from CoVid. And we all had mild progressions, thankfully – and surely because we all had three vaccinations. Don’t take this one easily, friends, it could seriously hurt you, and it’s definitely not a walk through the woods…
