Today I want to show you the two books I was reading lately:
Two books and a camera. Taken with my Olympus E-520 and the 50mm macro lens, using a flash bounced over a wall.
This is “Direction & Quality of Light” from Neil van Niekerk, and “Days with my father” from Phillip Toledano.
Neil’s book will teach you how to make the best use of light regardless of the situation. It’s a fine technical book from which you can learn a lot. Maybe you should read Kirk Tuck first to make sure you have the basics covered, because this one will require a bit knowledge already.
Phil’s book is different. It’s all about his father, for whom he cared since his mother passed away.
Neil’s book will teach you technique. And Phil’s will show you that you need a heart first and foremost.
Both recommended. Buy them at the bookstore of your choice.
I’m waiting for Salgado’s “Genesis” to arrive, and I will surely report about that one as well.
Thanks for reading.
