It’s still cold outside, barely two-digit Celsius. Reminds me of why I can’t be a landscape or nature photographer – I simply don’t like to be out in the cold and rain, just freezing and waiting endlessly for the perfect light and moment.
From one of our latest weekend shopping tours, someone brought home a small brochure from one of our big and good food supermarket chains. I looked at all those recipes and saw not only how nice you can process the food you get there, but also how nicely it can be photographed. Thought about scanning the whole thing, but then again, these aren’t my photos, and I didn’t fancy long email exchanges with the marketing and legal departments of whoever has the copyright for those.
So I just put it onto our table, added one of my cameras and a colour target, and bounced my studio strobe over the ceiling to take a photo of it all:
A camera, a target, and a brochure with very nice food photos. Olympus E-520 DSLR with the ZD 2.0 50mm Macro lens attached.
Whoever made those photos inside that small, A5-size brochure did a very good job. Next time you’re out shopping for food, grab one of these if you still can find them. Same for clothes chains or whatever product you’re interested in. You can learn from everything.
Thanks for reading.
