Some more tests

Took two photos this evening which I cropped into a 6×7 format afterwards:

Both taken with the E-520 and the 50 macro, with two bounced flashes.

Update/edit, from the same evening:

You have seen some photos taken with a “profiled” camera now, but I still wasn’t happy with the outcome. Turns out that those profiles are ok and a great help, but I have to refine my usual way of work regarding to post-processing. Just making a profile and using that without thinking just the same way you used to do things before just doesn’t work. So I started over, and using the same profile as before, I edited again:

I don’t know about you, but I like these much better already. They’re treated differently by the way – having a profile also doesn’t mean that you don’t have to work on an individual basis anymore. It just is a better starting point. So these are in my opinion way more true to life, and more like I saw the pictures when I took them.

Oh, and for whatever (or whoever) it’s worth, here’s the shot of (half of the) colorchecker which was used to make a profile for this camera and lighting setup:

Thanks for viewing.

Wolfgang, it looks like you’ve got something that works for you now. I just held my ColorChecker Passport up next to your photo of yours, and the hues seem to match exactly! Of course, they do not look identical, due to the differences of intensity from the backlit LCD monitor vs. the reflective ColorChecker Passport.

I really like the soft light on your daughter’s face in the first photo – it’s very pretty!
