Tobacco. Pre-rolled cigarettes. A lighter. All in front of my quite dusty monitor stand…
Olympus E-PL1 with the 45mm M.Zuiko lens and the in-camera flash bounced over the ceiling.
I’ve made one error tho: that built-in flash isn’t the strongest of course, and I had the camera on ISO 100. So this was way under, and I pushed it 1.7 stops with the Olympus Viewer 2 software. Would I have had the camera on auto ISO, it would probably have chosen ISO 320, or maybe 250 to protect some highlights.
However: the fact that you can point this small flash upwards 90 degrees makes this camera a very nice proposition. With other gear you would be forced to get an external flash to do this. And direct flash would never look that good. Trust me, I’ve tried (but not for too long).
You see a small harsh shadow here on the first cigarette on the left, but the rest of the image is lit just nicely. Oh, and no post sharpening at all – that 45mm lens simply doesn’t need that.
It’s a test only. But thanks for looking anyway.
