When the weather isn’t that nice, you have to become creative indoors. And that is what Zuleikha did: she was assigned to water the cactus, and after doing so, she gave it a name, and scribbled that one onto the pot in which the plant is living.
After she was gone to bed yesterday, I took a photo of that:
I used the Olympus E-PL1 with the 45mm lens at f=4. The light was the kitchen light from next room only, so I put the camera onto my tripod, focused manually as near as I could, and then moved the tripod until the character “k” seemed to be in focus with a magnified view. I also turned off image stabilisation and set a 2 second delay and then pressed the shutter and stood still. Cropped the photo to 16:10 format during “post production”.
Using the same kitchen light a lot closer, I took a photo of the salad which Mitchie was making today (and while she was still making it). So for this one I used the E-520 and the 50mm macro lens, and hand-held 1/8th of a second with ISO 400 and the lens fully open:
Like in the first one, there wasn’t much “post production”, just some white balance correction, and that was it. And tho this might not be “critically sharp”, it’s still nice enough when viewed up to 30x40cm, and from normal distances. I have pretty good critics here: when Zuleikha walks by and says “Uuuiiihh”, I know the shot wasn’t that bad
Thanks for viewing.
